Rather slammed at work these days so I haven't had time to post this since finishing the initial prototype. Continuing my love affair with Star Citizen lore and the planned physical universe, I'm automating visual star systems guides, and selected Helios, the 2nd largest star system, as the prototype.
Stanton always looms large because it's where we are now and what we hear the most about. But when it comes to size, it's a baby compared to other star systems.
I also never considered what a "year" - orbit around the sun might be for planets in other systems. Hadn't considered it. My mouth dropped open when I started seeing orbits that are hundreds of standard earth years. It made me wonder how citizens communicate the passing of time in the SC universe with such disparity? I notice that some of the RSI lore posts use Standard Earth Time as a notation.
If you're into the lore or seeing the star systems planned with what's know about them today, you can see the article and the first iteration of the visual I'm working on at Aly's World. With my preference for working with the lore and star system data in an automated fashion, I hope to produce these readily when I have time to return to it.
