Welcome to another episode of Casual Citizen. An on-going series about the upcoming first person MMO, Star Citizen, by Cloud Imperium Games. This week’s episode visits more of the wonderful fiction / lore being released by CIG. It's the Journal of Christian Meyer from the Discovered series of dispatches. I hope you enjoy.

Welcome to another episode of Casual Citizen. An on-going series about the upcoming first person MMO, Star Citizen, by Cloud Imperium Games. This week’s episode is about one of my favorite ships, the Banu Merchantman. It’s the only alien technology ship that I’ve pledged for and I’m super excited to see how it turns out. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

I don't like Black Desert Online as much as I'd hoped. The things I don't like about it, weren't apparent when I was watching high level characters play. I wasn't able to play on Friday due to a bug that prevented some pre-order customers from logging in. The fact that I only played a few hours on Saturday was very telling as to how much it's not an ideal fit for me. Let's start with what I did like.
What I liked
I went in with the hope that BDO would be similar to ArcheAge minus the horrible cash shop grab that was implemented several months into the formal release. Along with many others, including the vast majority of my guild, I exited stage left shortly after one too many bad decisions on the part of Trion and XL Games. Daum Games, the group publishing BDO in NA have specifically said that they didn't want to make the same mistakes as ArcheAge which was very encouraging.
The kind words and positive responses I've received about the series encouraged me to diversify the shows. Episode 8 of Casual Citizen, is a dramatization of Lieutenant Eli Price’s journal from the Discovered series published on RSI. His journal relates the story behind the discovery of the Oya system, during the reign of the first Imperator, Ivar Messer. I hope you enjoy.

I've been short on posts again the past couple of weeks. It's mainly due to two reasons. First is that I lied to myself about not pursuing anymore industry certifications. I decided to do one more - for real this time. As much as I want out of the meat grinder that is high tech and large corporations in general, I feel compelled to make sure I'm always marketable just in case. My current employer feels like it's on that same trajectory as Motorola Mobile Devices was when I worked there. Out of control spending while margins are way down, and don't seem capable of getting things under control. I already witnessed first hand how that worked out for MD. So am paying it much more attention this time.
Second reason is that doing the Casual Citizen series for Star Citizen is very time consuming. No complaints about the time spent. I'm enjoying it. But it does mean less time for other things such as other games, much less posting about them. My original intent for Casual Citizen was bi-weekly but I started churning them out weekly. I'll have to return to bi-weekly for a couple of months while I finish up the certification. Afterward, I can go back to weekly shows again AND I'm going to be looking into another hobby that's related. I'm excited about it and have been doing a bit of research. I'll share more when I know more. smile
Large household was making me batty!
Quick Gaming Roundup
I've only been playing enough SC to capture fresh video for the next show which I plan to record and publish this weekend
Late night just before turning out lights, has been turned over to Darkest Dungeon. You'll find posts here from when it was in Early Access on Steam. It's been officially released and as much fun as it ever was albeit a tad bit harder. It's definitely worth checking out if you like rogue-like turn based games. Hell I don't even enjoy rogue-likes but this has won me over.
The Sims 4 house of friends wasn't as much fun as it has been in the past. When I wanted to play it for "down time" - relax me before bedtime, it felt too frantic. I made a copy of the household and downsized it to a couple. I'll try to get them married and see if they can survive on the property being 100% self sustaining until and max out the traits associated with their career choice even though no job is part of the challenge. Playing this way - fewer people, primarily staying on the property or surrounding neighborhood has given game-play the relaxing feel I want for now.
I pre-ordered Black Desert Online and am still planning to participate in CBT on February 18th. Luckily, the CBTs are short duration so it won't be much of a distraction from studying.
That's all the happenings in the world of gaming for me. I'm starting to do the occasional post on Google+. It's a combination of gaming and personal opinions. Check me out, join my circle or invite me to yours if you have an interest. Ta-ta until next time.
