Link to Part 1
Here are other questions I see new players ask on a regular basis or things I learned the hard way.
Public Regal Stations
Some crafting recipes require regal workstations. Typically, these workstations are crafted by players specializing in that profession and placed in their homes. Each faction has one set of public regal workstations available to the general population. For the West Faction, public Regal Workstations are located in Wardton, Solzreed. You’ll see a cluster of houses together with workstations on the porch and some inside. Those are regal workstations you can use.
Farm Cart is Stuck or Intentionally Blocked
On some servers setting up blockades in an attempt to extort a toll charge is common place. You can escape this little trap as well as your cart being stuck by using the “Rider’s Escape” command. This command is in the Skills Window | Basic Commands section. Use Owner’s Mark before exiting the farm cart so no one can driver off with it. Move to a better position (not more than 20 meters from current location) and initiate Rider’s Escape. Your farm cart AND the two trade packs secured on it will spawn at your new location. One known issue is this won’t work consistently on bridges. You’ll get the “not enough room…” message. If that happens, DO NOT accept party invites from strangers. Anyone in your party has access to your trade packs on the farm cart. Ask two people you trust to come and help you. Invite them to a party to remove the packs from the cart. Move to a better location and resummon the cart.
Hidden Weapon Passives
In addition to the stats displayed on the weapon, the various weapon types have hidden proc attributes that may sway your decision of using one versus another. For example, a 2H staff has a chance of healing the wearer. A full list of these attributes can be found here.
Guilda Star (GS) Dailies
There’s never a shortage of reasons to want or need GS. From building another house, bigger ship and other vehicles, players are always chasing them. Several of the instances have quests that can be completed on a daily basis for GS. And there are repeatable standalone quests out in the world. Here’s a list of the known GS dailies.
Walking is faster than Horse + Trade Pack
If you don’t own a donkey yet then WALK. It’s much faster than using your mount and wearing a TP. This also lets you use Sprint every time it’s available.
Use Songcraft to Speed up your Donkey
If the majority of your trade pack runs are on a donkey and you do more than one consecutively, visit the a Priestess and change one of your skill trees to Songcraft. Even at beginner level you can train and use the skill that boosts movement speed. Once you have 4 points in the tree use the passive to increase it further. This is only worth doing when you plan to run a few trade packs in a session or are doing one that is long distance.
Proficiencies Should Match Your Goals
While you can pursue all crafting professions, you can only MASTER two of them. You’ll want to reserve that for your primary crafting goals. Similarly, advance the proficiencies to match the benefits advancing the various tiers such as higher harvesting proficiency has better chance and gathering “gold” versions of items.
The number of professions you can have at each proficiency tier is as follows: Amateur (5), Novice (4), Veteran (3) and Expert (2). If you’re still not sure what to advance past the 10K, 20K, 30K, etc. milestones, look at your proficiencies now. They represent what you’re spending your labor on. Are these the things you enjoy? Do they represent what you want to do long term? If yes, then advance them in proficiency accordingly. If not, why are your spending more time on ones you don’t want to do long term? Labor doesn’t come cheap in AA. You should be spending it in a manner that matches your end game goals.
How to Claim Expiring Property
It’s a HUGE OVERSIGHT that the game doesn’t explain how to locate property that isn’t empty/free of an existing structure. On most servers, there aren’t many “open” spots so you need to know how to find properties that are about to be expired, making them claimable again. I’m on the most populated server being managed by the Trion release and yet I see MANY unused 8x8 farms on a daily basis. It’s not a great size but beats nothing if you don’t have at least that much.
Yeah, yeah, XL Games should make this easier for you but they didn’t so here’s how it works. When a player hasn’t paid the taxes on their property + 1 week grace period, the property will become eligible for destruction. Once destroyed another player can place down their design of the same size or greater if there was enough empty space around the destroyed lot – not likely these days.
Inspect EVERY EMPTY FARM OR UNBUILT HOUSE YOU SEE. Use the information icon to see if it’s slated for demolition. AKA is there red text. If not, move along. If there is, note the date and time for the demolition IF you have a design appropriate for the type of location (farms only vs. houses only areas). You’ll need to come back on that date and time to destroy (combat damage) the existing structure and then put down your own design. Make sure you have the REQUIRED TAX CERTIFICATES IN YOUR INVENTORY + THE DESIGN.
For an 8x8 there shouldn’t be too much competition. If you run across a 16x16 farm or housing spot that’s a different story. There are hacks being used to snipe property illegally. A few tips on increasing your odds of getting a larger property when there isn’t anyone present that’s hacking you can:
- Change your mouse scroll to do the left click (increases your ability to spam left click to place your design before someone else does.
- Have a friend demolish the existing so you can pre-place your design and have it already in place to start spamming left click.
- Have your cursor where the confirmation button will display which is toward bottom middle of your screen. Some people mark this on their monitor with a piece of tape after they get to see where it pops up the first time they attempt this little click fight for property.
- Ask friends or guild members to help by having them attempt to place a similar design and then give/sell it to you for a nominal price. For 8x8s it’s easy enough for friends to get a design on an alt character. This is what we do in our guild to help each someone increase their chances of getting the location.
How to Identify Combat Combos
Being aware of combat combinations can greatly enhance your performance for DPS and healing. Skill tooltips tell you what combos it supports. However, I find it’s much easier to figure out the ones you can imitate yourself by using a Class Builder / Calculator that shows the ones inherent to you specific class combination. Here’s the one I prefer. Looking at the number of, or really the lack of combinations in a trio you’ve selected, is probably a good indicator that they’re not synergistic.
That’s it for Beginner’s Guide Part 2. Hope you find this helpful.
