All the gaming time I had available this past weekend was spent playing EQN Landmark. Server access and general client stability have improved since the last two patches. For all the claims taken, I still don’t see nearly as much construction as I’d expect. Perhaps they’re choosing to get all of their tools and stations before starting.
Most of my time was spent completing the exterior of my compound. I was already more than 125K worth of stone thrown at it. However, I was missing a few staircases and sculptural details on the platforms. When I decided that I wanted a third building in the back that mirrored my existing above ground building, I knew it was time to obtain all of the other building tools.
I can’t tell how long it took me to acquire the necessary components. My claim location is so inconvenient that when it’s time for lower tier harvested materials, I go farm each tier until I can’t stand it anymore. The next time I play, I return to building. Travel at this point is too tedious and inconvenient for a lot of back and forth. Once in awhile is no problem but I’m not doing the trek multiple times in a play session.
Claim Border Boogies
You should be cautious about building right near the edge of your claim. Doing so can cause problems with placing and highlighting voxels. If you’re at the edge, it works best if you can make sure that your cursor is pointing toward the interior of your claim otherwise the system beeps and you that you can’t place an item at that location. I’d already dealt with that while building and it caused problems in attempting to save templates of my structures too. LUCKILY, shortly after I thought I’d successfully saved all the buildings, I noticed an error in chat that wasn’t visible while I was making the biggest template. There’s an issue where your chat display is one message behind – it’s not scrolling all the way to the bottom.
Apparently, the Selection tool highlight was too close to the border of my claim which made saving the template generate an error. It took several tries to get it “just so”. Once it saved successfully, it was pretty damn cool being able to flawlessly paste down a copy of a whole building!
Arabian Nights
Final building in place, I spent time continuing to refine the exterior. I added a seating area with a fire pit, an aquamarine sphere on the main building and external light fixtures. Looking at it now it has a Kingdom of Heaven vibe to it that I really like. If you haven’t seen KH, add to your Watch List on whatever service you use. It definitely hits my personal Top 10 Movies of all time list.
