« GW2 is Coming August 28th | Main | GW2 - DAY 6 Waiting for Email Authentication Issue Resolution »

September 03, 2012

I didn't purchase GuildWars... this is the first time since 2001 that I'm not playing any MMORPG at all... I'm tempted to re-sub to WoW just to fool around but I'm resisting the temptation...

Hope your problems get resolved soon... :)

Wow, I can't believe it's taken this long to address your issue.

TBH, I think they rushed their email notification process into production before they had a chance to fully test it out. Most likely this was an emergency fix to combat the spam emails that were phishing attempts at player's emails.

Don't forget to check the checkbox once you do get your authentication email so they don't need to send you any future ones if you login from that IP address.

Yeah, it's pretty darn brutal. I've decided that if it hasn't been resolved by Saturday (9 days), Amazon can have it back. License key never used because I've been locked out since before I got the physical media.

Funny thing is, I've only ever signed on from this location. I must have an ISP situation where it changes, so not sure if checking "Remember this Network" will work?

What did change for me is the PC used. I started Head-Start on a laptop because the RAID 0 boot device in my gaming rig when belly-up on me the day before the HS.

Oh hey, I think I remember a guildie talking on TS about some problems he had with the authentication process being solved by turning off the pop-up blocker.

It's a long shot but maybe it will work for you too?

Alysianah aka Saylah

Hand't considered that and anything's worth at try!!

Winged Nazgul

Yeah, if the only thing that changed is the PC then check security settings with firewall, popup and script blockers to GW2 website, etc.

Alysianah aka Saylah

Cant be firewall issue, sec settings, etc., although I've checked.

Two other PC in house playing game just fine. Two nephews came with their desktops to play here over the weekend. I setup up their accounts and they had no issues. But I told them NOT to turn on Email Authentication for now.

So the big difference I see is that the other accounts that reside here (2 of them) never enabled Email Authentication. They were able to just cancel by it, not understanding what was being asked. I enabled it prior to the hacking wave and the mass enabling of it. I played with it turned on the first night just fine on my desktop and a second session just fine. All I want now is for SOMEONE - ANYONE to turn if OFF on my account. :-)
