I mean seriously fucking furious that the delay has been combined with a free trial weekend, begins at a SINGLE PRESET TIME on a server and as a paying customer, I'm sitting in a 2 hour fucking queue (edit: the queue rose to an estimated 8 hours)! Are you serious Trion? RLY!?!
I don't give a damn about being compenstated with some welfare loot hand-out. The whole idea was to see and participate in the content. Can you imagine how annoyed people are who've been participating in the event since the beginning but we're now sidelined for the pinnacle event? Talk about foreplay but NO SEX, NO CLIMAX!
Guild members who play regularly - almost every night and have done all the daily quests faithfully are sitting helpless in a queue, listening to the lucky few who got on talk about it in vent. Wow just wow. I am absolutely livid and disgusted. You've got to be shitting me that this is how this has played out.
Yeah I was number 407 on Sunrest, 2 hours 45 minutes, I gave up after 30 minutes. I had not played Rift for a whole week & was really looking forward to the event. :(

I also missed it.
Those who were there say it was laggy, confusing as to what was going on and a massive gankfest.

While this won't help, I'm sure, allow me to describe how the event went down on my server and let you know that, in my opinion, you didn't miss much.
At a little after 3pm Pacific time, a world message was issued and a boss spawned in each of the eleven zones. If you were lucky enough to be in Alsbeth's path, she aggroed you briefly before returning to spawning the first boss.
The boss in the zone I was in was tank-and-spank, with an AoE attack, just like virtually every other major invasion boss.
Upon burning the boss down (ours had 1.4 million HP), a second boss spawned elsewhere in the zone. After burning that one down, a third boss spawned- same procedure. Then a final zone boss spawned which also required tank-and-spank tactics.
After defeating that boss, the phase 2 quest was incremented to show that the zone had been cleared.
Once all eleven zones had been cleared of bosses (which took 35 minutes on the Shatterbone server), phase 3 started in Stillmoor.
It consisted of Alsbeth, Asha Catari, and the Guardian big cheese talking. Yes, talking. Players could emote a "bow" or "kneel" to one of these figures. I received a "the Discordant" title as a Defiant by kneeling to Alsbeth.
A couple of other titles were awarded for being present at phase 3. Then the big hitters despawned and phase 3 was over.
Yes, I certainly can see how it'd be upsetting to miss the event. There was a lot of buildup, after all. But, really, you missed nothing other than a lag-filled bunch of major rift invasions. And, for the completist, a few achievements and titles.
You can still complete Weapons Cache quests and the daily quests, by the way. Regular Death rifts still pop and provide quest updates.
My great hope is that future "world events" will somehow be gated so that there aren't multi-hour queues for content that takes 30 minutes to complete server-wide.

As you can tell from my previous posts, I really enjoy Rift but I am utterly disgusted today. You don't build up an event, set for a single point in time and not expect massive amounts of players. Uh really, the math is very simple when they know how many subscribers they have on each server and the number of trial accounts registered the previous weekend. You can guessestimate your way to the fatal calamity that happened today.

That sucks. I was thinking after two weeks of leadup there woukd be at least 3 days of event going on that would involve the server working together as a whole. The idea behind rift closings anyways, right, so why not expand on that. Really disappointing.

I totally feel you. My son has also been looking forward to doing phase 2. I rushed to his PC to queue him up too once I saw what was happening on our server but no luck for him either or my nephew. Paying customers, each on a different server and none of us got in for the event. Extremely disappointing.

Lol Saylah, congratulations getting a NSFW tag over at Massively. Mind you it would want to be a fairly genteel workplace for them to get upset at a bit of Anglo-Saxon.

LULZ - my feelings about it yesterday were definitely NSFW. I pay for 3 Rift accounts from our household. We're on different servers and NO ONE could get on to participate.
I won't be playing today either. The last thing I'm in the mood for is reading about it chat or hearing about it in vent. I chronicle my big adventures and this one is now a permanent gap. I'm still feeling pissy over it.

Finally catching up to you Saylah so you better be on next week for a guild run or two of that Iron Pine instance!

I'll on maybe not as much next week. A big project at work and company coming in town for Easter weekend. I'm game. I want to run LH again too. I didn't see all that much the last time and didn't get any picture. It was a spur of the moment, frantic race thru.

Welcome to MMOs! This is why most MMO devs say MMOs never really leave the beta stage. :P
