The queues have dissipated on some servers. Logging into popular servers during off hours can be instantaneous to 30 minutes. On Faeblight, which is RP PVE, we’re still experiencing 1 to 2 hour wait-times during prime time. We think that might even out as players without guilds change to other servers or some choose not to subscribe after the first 30 days. I’m in for the full 6 months at least, having purchased at the “Founders” pricing model. The game was patched several times over the weekend; one in particular now boots players who’ve gone AFK at the character selection screen to reduce queues.
Back in the Herd
I had a wonderful weekend playing Rift and being back amongst the members of Casualties of War. Right now we’re all off doing our own thing – questing, some organized PVP, a few were running Iron tombs, crafting, helping each other when asked, etc. but we will be having Monday night progression groups that level and PVP together after the official launch.
Temporary Insanity, Obsession & Fun
It’s great to be back in Freemarch leveling on a permanent character. I’m in no particular hurry. I want to explore every inch and see things I intentionally stayed clear of in Beta and Alpha test. I did a Mad Hatter mix of questing, harvesting, rift chasing and dawdling around. Time in Rift passes too quickly. I’d sit down around 11-ish and the next thing I know it’s 6-ish and I’m starving. I have to admit to letting myself get to the hands-shaking starvation moment on Sunday without even noticing that I'd become hungry.
I guess I'm temporarily obssessed with being able to freely enjoy zones without feeling that I'm cheating myself out of something. At level 16, you can see I'm not rushing the levels but I spend a lot of time doing stuff - not sure what but something that I must have found entertaining. *smile* I did take occassional breaks. Laundry got done, kitchen cleaned, yada. I even entertained on Saturday but the minute they left, I was back in game! I also got stuff done when the servers were down. :-)
I didn’t chase down any particular objectives this weekend other than to enjoy the zones, be amongst like minded players on Vent and to do whatever I felt like doing at any given moment. I’m almost level 16 and my bank is overflowing with crafting components so it’s time to start making stuff. I picked Foraging, Butchering and Outfitting, where Outfitting is temporary and mostly to consume components. I have my fingers crossed that cooking will be added as a profession. If it’s not, I might switch over to Apothecary. I could keep Outfitting to make items for my progression alt which will be in cloth or leather. And it never hurts to be able to make bags!
More Quests than Necessary & Phat Lootz
My quest log is overflowing. I have way more than I need to level out of Freemarch. I’ll probably drop the ones that are below my level at this point. The quest rewards are very good but I’ve surpassed them and have done many of them already.
Woot for me and rift chasing, I’ve been able to claim 3 planar (rift currency) rewards, including an epic item. I was giddy when I saw a purple shard drop for me in one of the world events. Other than questing, I’m still tweaking a melee PVE questing build which I’ll share later in the week.
