A couple of weeks ago I posted my concerns about a wagering mechanic being added in an upcoming expansion for Wizard101. Wagering was a feature that was going to be implemented along with the new PVP Arena system. Even though I don't have any small children myself, the whole idea seemed opposite of the other care and concern exhibited in the game to protect young players. A KingsIsle employee, known on the Wizard101 official forums as Professor Greyrose, was wonderful enough to stop by and leave this comment...
Wagering Gold in Wizard101
After testing the wagering system for Wizard101's Player vs Player Tournament feature, we have decided that the ability to wager gold in PvP duels will not transfer from the Test Realm to the Live game. There is no need to implement parental controls for this system, since we have eliminated the gold wagering in PvP duels.
Thank you for your feedback, and see you in the Arena soon!
Unfortunately, it got caught up in my anti-spam filter for a day or two. Thank you to KingsIsle for listening to the concerns of those who were worried about the havoc this might unleash on younger players. Parents and other concerned players, were asking that a parental control be implemented along side the other account control features. As you can see they've instead decided not to implement the wagering at all.
Thanks again Profession Greyrose for stopping by to leave your comment. Wow, taking the time and the effort to come reply here in person, is much appreciated. I'll see you in Ravenwood. *Smile* By the way, I'm sorry to say that my pet spider ate my homework. No, really, he did!

That is really cool, that Prof. Greyrose stopped by to say that. Guess KI really do listen to their customers, and not just the whining, belligerent ones, saying: "ZOMG! Locks are so OP! Nerf Locks!".
What a refreshing change :D

@John - Yes, that is refreshing. I'm sure the people who were pro wagering on PVP aren't quite as happy or impressed with this turn of events. :-)
