The last time I subscribed to EQ2, I had decided to play it more along the lines of The Sims goes Medieval. I planned to just putter about slowly and partake of the casual aspects of the game. One of the first things I did was to move out of Kelethin to Qeynos Harbor. I was on Nagafen at the time where I’d made some good money furnishing components to players trying to power level tinkering and transmuting. I found that I liked the change A LOT. I’d made a bit of the same opportunistic funds on Antonia Bayle as a Summoner, when I abandoned Naggy. Not nearly as much though because the re-roll didn’t last very long. I have enough for a T2 mount but I’m trying to hold out for the next one. Consequently, having a pricey flat in QH wasn’t what I wanted to fund.
I’d been tempted in the past to move to Castle Hamlet because I liked
the general area but it’s inconvenient and rather empty.
I’d also looked at Willow Wood as an alternative but considered it too
small. This time however, small seemed perfect and when I went to
check it out, I found it considerably populated. People were at the
Inn, milling around the bank and of course, lots of activity in the
Auction House and crafting rooms. It seemed like a perfect place to
play out two of my mini games – crafting and player housing. At some
point I’d love to have a multi-level flat in SQ with my own crafting
stations. Then again, that might start to feel a bit lifeless on top
of soloing as an adventurer. I think I checked at the WW Inn doesn’t
have even two-room apartments available. That’s a pity. I think all
of the Inns should have the full gambit of room sizes just like
Kelethin possesses. You never know why someone wants to live in a
particular area and what their needs will require. I don’t see any
real point in limiting the options since they’re all instanced anyway.
I had just enough furnishings squirreled away to make a really nice apartment and storefront for my main, with a tiny bit left over for my Sage alt. I miss having access to my Carpenter on Nagafen. I wish I could transfer her and her plat to AB! *Smile* Although if the option was available, I’d take her naked and plat-less just to salvage her as a crafting alt.
