I'm collapsing a few mini blogs that I created but didn't maintain.
There are a few posts that I didn't want to lose for sentimental value
so I'm just merging them here...
My first foray into virtual fantasy worlds began with Asheron's Call 2. I tried AC1 a few weeks before AC2 was to release. I liked the game play but wanted the updated graphics. As soon as AC2 was available I jumped ship and never looked back. I guess no other game will make me feel the way I did in this, my first MMORPG. The wonder and awe, the blessed memories of adventuring with friends.
As this particular persona, I penned fan fiction on Warcry's AC2 site. Too bad I deleted the accompanying blog after the game closed. Lots of pictures, posts about the game and wonderful memories were archived there.

The Enchanter
was wickedly good at solo-play. She was primarily a crowd-control
class with debuffing skills and commanded weapons as pets. With enough
planning there wasn't much that I couldn't solo. When I wanted or
needed to group, my Mezmerize skill was always in demand. Combined
with root and confuse, I could easily take 3 targets out of play while
the group focused on the main kill. Life as a caster in AC2 was good.
Everyone had the opportunity to wear mail armor so there were no
squishies.

Not all of
the pets were useful. Unlike let's say the Warlock pets in WOW, you
completely abandoned the lower pets - orb and dagger, once you obtained
your axe. The lower pets didn't scale and although their purposes were
unique the lack of scaling made them useless once you were higher in
level. Regardless, that Axe was hawt and became my best friend in
battle.
Current Status: Retired as AC2 is now defunct.

My son and I in the guild hall when it was on Omishan
My mule, Artemus, through whom I wrote a few stories.
Silly picture of Saylah in sun glasses.
I'm
so glad there was one picture with these two. No conversation about
AC2 and they joy I had playing this game would be complete without Dark
and Makayla. This real life husband and wife duo who took me under their wing and it was with them that I joined a guild that would be my virtual family in AC2 and WOW.
