Another housekeeping post moved from a mini blog that I'm removing...
Turbine announced the planned closing of Asheron’s Call 2. Shortly thereafter, our guild leader left the game and the guild began to dissolve. My anger over how the player community was treated and deceived, right up until the revelation that the game was closing, left a sour taste in my mouth for all things Turbine. Lots of anger, disappointment and sadness came over me, and I made an early departure from the game with the thought that I’d never play another MMORPG again. Too much time and emotion invested in a world over which you have little control.
Some members of the guild were talking about some game called World of Warcraft and began posting their server destinations. I ignored it all and went back to playing The Sims. My son lingered until the AC2 servers shutdown and it was at his request that I purchased a copy of WOW so that he could follow members of the guild. But you know how that goes. I had to help get the game installed and get him registered on the new guild site. Answer a few questions about how this or that might work, or oh come see this and the next thing you know, I’m interested in the game too. It wasn’t long before I bought my own copy and created the next Saylah.

The damage and
versatility of this class is currently unmatched by any other casting
class in World of Warcraft. Her ability to solo and survive in a
competitive PVP environment is also second to none. As much as I would
hate to see anything changed about this class, it does border on being
over powered. The pet selection is good, and they each provide a
different strategy for defeating your opponent.
EVERY talent tree is solid. I know for a fact that not all of the other classes can boast as much. If you want burst damage, and will be in groups with tanks and healers to mitigate damage done to you, then you can go fire and compete head-to-head with any mage. If you prefer to solo and want solid protection, then demonology fills that bill quite nicely. If you want a nice mixture of damage, easy soloing and survivability then you can go Affliction. Basically, no matter which tree you choose, there’s an “I win” button waiting therein. Sorry, don’t mean to boast, these are just the facts. You’ll have to take your QQ’g to Blizzard.

The pets
suck butt at holding aggro. I spent the better part of my leveling
days demonology spec’d and drain-tanked mobs. One or two casts and the
mob was all over me. There wasn’t much I could do about it other than
down rank the spells or wand instead. Neither of those scenarios is
conducive to efficient or fast leveling. So I rolled a Hunter alt as
herbalist/alchemist and used lots of potions to buff my armor and
health. This allowed me to drop the useless Voidwalker for the
Succubus’s damage and crowd control. Having the mobs attack me early
wasn’t a problem with good gear and potions. It left the pet free to
damage while my DOTs ticked and I drained the mob’s health, mana and
soul.
Again with the pets, they’re practically useless in the end game. Other than your Imp’s +STA and Fire buff, your pets don’t serve much purpose in raids. If you’re Demo you can have one out for the Master Demonologist buff. However, more likely than not, someone in your group will say, “Hey where’s the Imp? I need Bloodpact.”

Farming in EPL was a regular part of earning gold for raiding and items to DE for enchanting
Summoning the Master Enchanter in Uldaman to purchase the enchants that will get you to 300 and beyond, is a huge milestone.
I spent many nights and weekends raiding with the guild.
The end-game bosses are certainly a fearsome sight to behold.
What do you do to liven things up when you have dungeons on farm status? Raid naked of course!
