« My LOTRO Pre-Release Key Information Arrived | Main | KAAAAAAAAAAAAHN! »

I know you don't play Guild Wars anymore, but Guild Wars Nightfall had really great options for creating black characters. Very varied and for the most part attractive. This is a pretty good article about it: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=534514

I can't say that I liked the character options for Asian faces in Guild Wars Factions, however. Poor showing, IMO. They could have done soo much better. (I say this as an Asian who has traveled to Asia quite a few times.)

Star Wars: Galaxies also had great character customisation. Dark skin, light skin, long hair, balding, short, tall, fat or thin - it had it all. I miss that in all new games I play.

@Brinstar... Thanks for the link I'll check it out. I do remember seeing some of the artwork for NF and that it included many variations for skin color and ethnic features. And even if they weren't that well done, I'd probaby prefer something, over the nothing many of the other games provide.

@Dragon... That's cool. I've heard the crafting was really good too. Unfortunately, I've never been much of a SW fan.

I was also very glad to see such character creation options, although it did make for a strange crossover in my mind when I also found the afro-like hairstyle:

Frodo: "Excuse me, that man in the corner, who is he?"

Butterbur: "He's one of them rangers. Dangerous folk they are — wandering the wilds. What his right name is I've never heard, but around here, he's known as Shaft."

*wow wakka chow*

Having 20 different skin colors makes sense to me. MMO's are supposed to be immersive, but how can one become immersed in their character if the character doesn't look the way they want right off the bat? Outside of Bethesda-Oblivion- not one gaming company out there understands the importance of initial character creation in my opinion. I can change the color of my chat bars to any color I can imagine, but when it comes to skin tone, my dwarf has to have some variation of cream/grey. I would love to see a skin tone tool that allowed me to mix colors until I came up with what I wanted. Dark Purple Night Elf Ftw.

Geez, either my comp at work is taking a dump, or the site is laggin. That is the 2nd time I have meant to post a comment once and it came up twice. Sorry Saylah :(

Not to worry Wolf, it's easily fixed. It might be Typepad. It lags sometimes.

Speaking of Night Elf. I found it funny that I could blend my color to some bluish tint or kind of green, but making her brown was out of the question. Really makes me wonder.

Ok, I'm a bit late to this topic, but I only downloaded the beta client for LotRO a day or so ago.

I've been able to make a human with fairly dark skin, but nothing all that different than WoW, imo. What combo are you playing to get the best results?

Make a character and select Dale as the place or origin, that's what has the dark skin tones.
