Relmstein did a really nice post about, "Potential WOW Killers"...
Its a slow day in the MMO world and nothing new seems to be happening. Probably all the developers are still hung over from that company 4th of July picnic and we're just lucky that the servers are still up. Anyways I decided to take a cue from the professional media outlets and do what they do on a slow news day. Make stuff up! Ummmm ... I mean explore a small news story and then pump it up with exaggeration and personal opinions until its almost interesting... Read more here
I'm among those who are waiting. I've been watching the postings about War Hammer and do have some concerns about re-living WOW. If it's too much like WOW, then there won't be much point in leveling a new toon there - it's a lot of work getting to the top level. I could just keep re-rolling characters in Azeroth if the experience is too similar. As for Conan, not sure I'm a big enough fan to enjoy that game.
LOTRO - what can I say? That is the game that I was waiting for when I had to turn to AC1 and AC2 because the launch date kept slipping. Now, what is it, 3 years later, do I really want to invest in Turbine pulling this one outta their butts? Oh yeah - and they did suck me in for a couple of copies on the AC2 expansion then closed down shortly after. Yes, they have the mother load license of fantasy and they do graphics like no one's business. However, they've left me feeling a bit cold and conflicted about them as a game development studio.
I'm a Will Wright fan. OMG, he is my Sims baby's daddy!!! Then again, he and EA screwed The Sims Online in a big way. What the hell were they thinking??? My friends and I still whine and cry about what TSO could have been, had they stuck more closely to the PC game version and principles. *Cries some more* I'm almost positive that I won't be joining Will in Germs...Err, Spores. Why don't they just make the The Sims playable in a shared environment - mix worlds like they're going to do with Spores. That is all most of us wanted from TSO in the first place. *Shakes fists indignantly* Some crazy die-hard Sims fans need to find a way to open a private shard!! Menoglubglub.
I'm not overly excited about any of these titles, so I have no idea what I'm waiting for - except perhaps, a real life. *Smile*
Real Lives are over rated. Did you know that 10 out 10 people eventually die in Real Life? True Fact.

I like that on Relstein!
I too was a AC player but dropped it before the expansions as at the time my PC couldn't really handle the game. I bought the PC I have now to be able to play WOW & I have no regrets.
