The Star Citizen Live server was updated yesterday to version 2.1. I continued my Private Test Server activity until patch 2.1.d. Who can resist flying new ships?? I was also capturing video for my next installment of Casual Citizen, which should be published this Sunday.
The patching for 2.1 went up to 2.1.h. As I said, I bailed at 2.1.d. I don’t own stock in ComCast and routinely run over my monthly download cap as it is. Instead of charging me a premium for every 10 GB over, it would be really nice if they made larger packages! Of course I jest, they’re making more money this way so why bother.
I can easily say what I enjoyed most about PTU 2.1.x was flying the Freelancer on Old Vanderval New Horizons Speedway. The minute I left the starting line I was like, “Oh shit, this is what flying the Genesis Starliner may feel like when I’m arriving and departing with passengers!” It was really cool. The fidelity of the speedway scenery looks like an elevated cosmopolitan city. So it really did feel like I was descending into the atmosphere to land at an airport. Fun stuff and a glimpse of what’s to come.
Once I had what I HOPE is enough footage to cover Casual Citizen Episode 3, I stopped updating my copy of the PTU. I patched to 2.1 Live last night but won’t really have time to play this weekend. They’ve made headway in performance and are starting to crank out the ships faster.
Notable changes in 2.1 Live include:
- Freelancer is Flight Ready
- Vanguard is Flight Ready - this was a total shocker as. It wasn't flight ready on the PTU.
- Sabre is Hangar Ready
- Improved performance and stability in the Persistent Universe / Crusader
